On Friday May 29, Jeej and philanthropist/entrepreneur Yolanthe Cabau came together in Marbella for a private charity evening in support of Free A Girl. The evening raised €295.200, every euro going directly to the organisation fighting to end child sexual exploitation.
The gathering took place at a private villa in Marbella Benahavis, accessible by invitation only. Live music, a carefully selected group of guests, and a live auction of a 1/1 original painting, created by Jeej and Yolanthe together, and revealed for the first time on the night itself.
The work
The auctioned painting features one of Jeej's signature faceless characters: a female silhouette, kneeling, releasing a dove. A deliberate reference to a well-known princess story about the fight for freedom: in love, in choice, in the right to determine your own life. Raw graffiti at the foundation, the dream painted on top. The same duality Free A Girl works to break through every day.
Fully hand-painted. Mixed-media on canvas. Every layer visible, every colour chosen with purpose.
Why this was an easy yes
Jeej's work has always been rooted in duality, the tension between what is raw and what is refined, between what is overlooked and what deserves to be seen. Free A Girl fights for exactly that shift.
"One of the reasons I paint is because I never want to lose touch with the child within me. Every child deserves a safe childhood and the freedom to dream."
Jeej
